In the world to come, I shall not be asked, “Why were you not Moses?” I shall be asked, “Why were you not Zusya?” -Rabbi Zuysa
I read a top 10 list of leadership characteristics today. There are hundreds of them online and I guess even if we each made our own top ten list of leadership characteristics it would change and morph as we change and grow. One of the things that struck me in the list as they were applied to different people is that some of the characteristics in the list just didn’t work for other people on the list. As I read through I thought again, “You need to be the person that God has created you to be and do what it is that he has gifted you and given you a passion to do.”
We can all grow as we work on different areas of our life but to really live we need to be the people that God has created us to be, not try to figure out what someone else says a leader should be. Stop back tomorrow when I tell you what a leader should be.
I think that the take away is to work on figuring out the things that God has for you to do in this life. Go on a treasure hunt to figure out the areas that God has gifted you to do.
Some good categories to start your self reflection are:
1. Spiritual Gifts
2. God Given Strengths
3. Passions (What do you love or hate)
As you uncover more of who God made you to be you’ll know more clearly what you should be doing in the future.
